OTTAWA, Ontario, Canada, September 4, 2019 – As GaN (gallium nitride) takes center stage in conversations around power electronics and in key energy-intensive industries, GaN Systems, the global leader in GaN power semiconductors, will deliver presentations at several conferences worldwide. Various key executives and experts will be speaking about the impact and opportunities GaN brings in improving and creating new energy efficient systems and how the technology is innovating industries, including wireless charging in consumer electronics and industrial applications.
GaN Systems’ experts will be participating at several industry events and conferences from September through November 2019, including the AirFuel Members Meeting, Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo, IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), Charge Expo, and the China Power Supply Society (CPSS) conference.
As consumers move towards cutting the power cord, wireless charging, especially high power and faster charging technology - continues to capture attention as it expands beyond charging the smart phone, laptop, and wearables to e-bikes and e-scooters, robots, and drones. In this area, GaN Systems will be presenting at two wireless power events – the ITRI Wireless Power Workshop: IoT Power Supply Solutions on Sept. 6, 2019 in Taipei, Taiwan and at the AirFuel Members Meeting happening Sept. 10–12, 2019 in Kraków, Poland. There, Paul Wiener, Vice-President, Strategic Marketing for GaN Systems, will give a presentation on moving to a world without wires. Additionally, GaN Systems will be displaying wireless charging devices and technologies from customers and partners at both events.
Automotive is another key market sector where smaller, lighter, and more efficient power electronics are growing in importance. Technology is necessary to enable greater energy conversion efficiency in the vehicle and at the charging station. At the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo taking place Sept.10 – 12, 2019 in Novi, Mich., Julian Styles, GaN Systems’ Director of Sales and Marketing, Americas, will be speaking at technical session, “GaN & Electric Vehicles: A Small Change to Revolutionize the Industry” on Sept. 10. Additionally, Rick Reigel, Vice President of Sales at GaN Systems will also be presenting on GaN and EVs at the Charge Expo, happening Oct. 1-2 in San Diego.
GaN Systems will participate in several upcoming power electronics conferences including ECCE 2019 in Baltimore from Sept. 29 – Oct. 3, 2019; WiPDA 2019 (Workshop on Wide Bandgap Power Devices and Applications) in Raleigh, N.C. from Oct. 29-31, 2019; Semicon Taiwan happening Sept. 18-20, 2019; and the CPSS 2019 conference held in Shenzhen, China in early November. At the CPSS event, GaN Systems will announce the winning teams of the “GaN Systems Cup” design competition at the live finals and awards ceremony happening Nov. 1, 2019. The annual challenge, which is sponsored by GaN Systems in participation with CPSS, China Power Society Science Popularization Committee, and Tsinghua University, supports worldwide innovation in the power electronics industry leveraging the benefits of GaN transistors.
Additionally, GaN Systems presentations at ECCE include technical session, “An Ultrafast Discrete Protection Circuit Utilizing Multi-Functional Dual-Gate Pads of GaN HEMTs” scheduled on Sept. 30 and “Current Status and Future Prospects of GaN Power HEMTs,” on Oct. 2. At WiPDA, GaN Systems will be participating in a panel session, “GaN Power Device Market Adoption – What is the Status and What are the Barriers and Accelerators to Market Penetration?” on Oct. 30. The company will also be presenting a paper session, "GaN HEMT Outperforms Silicon in Low Frequency Applications."
“There’s an explosion of interest around GaN semiconductors and it shows with the amount of conferences from power electronics to industry events that are covering this topic,” says Paul Wiener, VP of Strategic Marketing for GaN Systems. “This represents an exciting time for us as we’re able to lead conversations in the limitless possibilities for power electronics by utilizing GaN.”
